Sonny Xu, LEED AP, is a landscape designer at Stoss. Sonny received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cornell University in 2013. He was the recipient of the Charles Goodwin Sands Memorial Silver Medal (1st Place Thesis Award) for his thesis titled: The Sublime and the Artifice and the Eidlitz Fellowship for the project: Borderline Encounters.
In 2018, Sonny graduated from the Harvard Graduate School of Design with a Master of Architecture II and a Master of Landscape Architecture with Distinction. Upon graduation, Sonny was honored to receive the KPF Paul Katz Fellowship, The Peter Walker and Partners Fellowship for Landscape Architecture and the Penny White Travel Fund. At the GSD, he has worked as a studio instructor for Design Discovery summer program, a teaching assistant for five design studios and a research assistant for the dean Mohsen Mostafavi, and various labs.
Sonny has practiced as a designer at FXCollaborative and other firms before joining Stoss. His research interests span art, architecture, infrastructure and landscape architecture. Sonny enjoys traveling, painting, and playing percussion instruments in his free time.
